Who are clear aligners for?

The beauty of clear aligners is that they are very discrete, they can treat a range of orthodontic concerns including crowded teeth, teeth with spaces and teeth that don't bite together correctly. This means they are a fantastic solution for teenagers all the way up to adults regardless of whether you have minor or major crowding and spacing issues.

There is even an option to treat children with clear aligners with a removable plastic aligner that has attachments to help move the position of the jaw.

First Appointment

Your treatment will start with a consultation with Dr Caroline O Dwyer. A digital scan of your teeth will be taken as well as digital photographs. Caroline will have a comprehensive overview of you teeth positioning and bite.

Next, Caroline can show you a preview of your future smile which is a great way to visualise how treatment would progress and also help you decide if treatment is the right option.

During your consultation, you will get the opportunity to ask any questions and Caroline will show you some examples of similar cases we have treated.

Getting Started

The next phase begins when your aligners arrive. Dr Caroline will check the fit and show you how the system works. You will be given a number of aligners to move your teeth over a period of time. Generally you will need to change for a new set every 1-2 weeks.

Each aligner will apply a small amount of pressure to your teeth which will begin the movement of your teeth to your projected smile. Its important to note aligners must be worn for at least 20 hours every day. You can take them out for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing.
